New Volkswagen Vans
Volkswagen has been making cars since 1937, originally the ‘people’s-car’, designed to be affordable by all. The Volkswagen group is the biggest German carmaker and the second biggest carmaker in the world.
Volkswagen vans are renowned for their excellent construction and high residual resale values, whose cabins are designed for the drivers’ comfort and safety.
The Volkswagen Transporter is the latest of the company’s long line of light vans, the first of which were produced in the 1950s. Available in six versions, ranging from the basic panel van to a California Campervan, the custom side of the transporter range is the Sportline model whose twin-turbo 2.0 litre, four- cylinder engine guarantees good acceleration and care-free cruising.
Volkswagen’s second best-selling van in the UK is the Caddy, which has won numerous awards from commercial and fleet vehicle magazines. Re-launched in 2003, the Caddy also comes in a larger version, the Caddy Max and is available in either a 1.6 litre or 2.0 litre, four-cylinder engine and with either manual or automatic transmission. The Caddy has an impressive 766-kilogram payload and is available in a range of models.
The largest model of the Volkswagen panel vans is the Crafter, which can also be supplied as a double cab or chassis cab and is often used as the base for official conversations such as tipper, Luton and dropside bodies. Crafters are now supplied with a more fuel efficient four-cylinder, 2.0 litre engine which delivers more power at lower engine speeds.
